You are the center of your own universe. YOU are the access to all things possible.
Going through the exercises in chapter one of the book, what do you see for yourself? Did you come up with a mission, or a statement of any kind? If so, please share!
Mine is simply this:
Help each other live in harmony with our planet. - which upon writing it just now, I realized spells HEOLI-HWOP... whatever that means...
I used to say "help people" but in reality, we are all helping each other. There is something to learn from everyone.
In the book, the exercise is mostly to help you determine a purpose and see what ignites you, however there is a deeper level to valuing yourself. Value your time, your skills, and what you have to offer the world.
I used to discount my labor for my friends, family, or partner organizations, but then I end up stressing about not making enough money. I see this in others too, where I ask a friend to do a job, and they feel like they need to do it free or for a discount. From now on, I am charging what I would charge anybody, which is what I feel my time is worth.
Every moment of every day is an opportunity. I believe making the most of that opportunity begins with valuing yourself.
What did you find for yourself?
This book starts off with some though-provoking questions!! I've had the following personal mission statement for a while "First, I become the change I want to see. Second, I share myself with the world."
I am a learner & an educator. I love to use my experiences & information gathered to DO something productive. Action is key for me.
After reading this chapter, I decided it was time to refine my mission statement some more and I love the word harmony, that you use Scott! So my new one is "Be a catalyst for change to restore oneness/harmony/love." (I cannot decide which word I want, help!)
Catalyst, or change galvanizer, have been words I've used to describe myself. I love to spark the fire in others to act on the change they want to see in the world. I've found it really only takes a lot of listening and a few simple questions!
